Thanying Thai Restaurant: Mum's Birthday Dinner

We celebrate mum's birthday at Thanying Restaurant at Amara Hotel 2 nights ago. It was a rare gathering for the whole family 'coz my eldest sis and bro-in-law was in SG for a few days. I suspect she has timed it in time for the Great Singapore Sale. :P

I snapped some pics as I was the first to arrived... And I was way too early.

Bf had a good chuckle every time I mistake the lemongrass as my straw. And the lemongrass drink wasn't nice.

But this Miang Kham dish was really good! It had little bits of fish, peanuts, spices etc. all wrapped in a betel leaf as an appetizer. A must-order for starter!

Some nice dishes I'll recommend is the Tom Yam Goong if you like the clear kind of soup. I personally prefer the milky one from E-Sarn Thai Cuisine. The Grapoh Pla Namdang (Fish Maw Soup with Quail's Egg) is nice enough for a non-fish-maw person like me to drink it.

The Stuffed Chicken Wing was delicious too. The Red Curry Duck is another dish worth trying, it was better than the Green Curry Chicken in my opinion. And the curries went really well with the Fried Rice with Black Olives.

And I really enjoyed the Pla Krapong (Steamed Seabass with Special Lime and Chilli Sauce)  It was so good I finished up all of it. You can refer to this link for more of the signature dishes.

These are all the food pics I took that night 'coz I was hungry when everyone arrived and the food was served immediately and I just chomp my way through.

Some happy and satisfied faces except for Val's little sour face.

More pictures with babies.

We had a yummy night at Thanying Restaurant!

The New PANTONE Hotel in Brussels, Belgium

This is so cool! A hotel in Brussels, Belgium that is inspired by pantone colours. This colourific PANTONE Hotel aims to evoke emotions through colours and it has rooms in 7 colours.

Seems like a neat and no frills hotel. Read more about it here and here

American Idol 2010 Lee Dewyze's Vitamin A Song

Click on and listen, it's kinda cute, don't you think? ;)

Andrea Bocelli in Singapore Presented by YTL Concert of Celebration 2010

I went for Andrea Bocelli's Concert at Botanical Garden last Saturday. It was presented by YTL Corporation to mark the company's successful venture here in Singapore.

Jan managed to get the free tics and bf's sis gave it to us too. So, a evening garden double date it was! And we had a really good time.

The artistes' performance was amazing and the free food (KFC and ice cream), goodie bags and the yummy snacks that we've prepared added to our enjoyment.

After stuffing my face shortly after the concert began, the soothing music was getting to me and I felt sleepy. I thought I would probably go through the whole concert lying on the ground and looking up into the deep blue sky. Yeah, that's music appreciation for me.

But it got even better after the intermission and Delta Goodrem's singing took my breath away. Well, it was her sexy hairdo that night and her beautiful face that first caught my attention. Here's 2 videos of her performance:

She's gorgeous yeah? I really think so and Andrea Bocelli did 5 encores that night! Singing together, Andrea Bocolli and Delta Goodrem delivered a really wonderful performance!

The beautiful evening ended with several fireworks that fogged up the roads surrounding Botanical Garden. Even the rain was perfectly timed and it ended just before the start of the concert,  bringing along with it a cool night for outdoor enjoyment.

**It was a magical night!**

Wavehouse @ Sentosa is a Great Place for Chilling

I just discovered a new and cool place to chill at Sentosa; Wavehouse @ Sentosa Silosa Beach! With 2 artificial wave pools and awesome music, it was really entertaining and relaxing to laze there.

Was toying with the lomo function on my iPhone and took some pics of Wavehouse @ Sentosa.

This afternoon was perfect  for chilling out at the beach with cloudy skies and lovely breeze. It was indeed a welcoming change to the hot and humid early May days we have been having here in Singapore.

And a jug of ice cold beer was the perfect accompaniment to this blissful day.

This really reminded of my Sentosa suntanning days. Love it! And I'll be back!

My First Harrowing Encounter with Diaper Changing

This surely is one defining moment of mine; my first attempt at diaper changing.

Mum had to bring my older niece to the doctor after dinner. Soon after they left the house, my poop sensitive nose smelt something awful coming from the other room. To my horror, my little niece, Clara, has indeed pooped! I distracted her with her favourite "Peek-A-Boo" baby VCD and watched the clock.

About one and a half hour has passed and my mum was still not home yet. Feeling guilty from Clara's incessant cries and creative attempts to call out for my mum in different ways, I've decided to give her a clean butt.

It was a harrowing experience! O... that awful smell!!! But she seemed to enjoy being tickled by the sprays of the shower head and giggled as I washed her.

As I was putting the diaper on her, my mum came home just in time for the rescue. It would have been perfect if not for the diaper that was worn back to front.

I totally understand why dads out there hate changing diapers. And if you guys haven't realized it, it's just as horrifying an experience for us gals too!

Please save us from that smell sometimes too!!!

Pre-Loved Books I Love!

Writing about books reminds me of a little flea store that I came upon when I was in Melbourne about 2 years back.

It's called Rebound Books and I chanced upon it at the weekend Rose Street Artists Market while parking at Brunswick, Fritzoy, one of my favourite streets in Melbourne.

I fell in love with the books at first sight. They are hand bound using second hand books and recycled paper.

Bf bought one for me seeing my eyes lit up while looking at them. I chose the one below. Isn't is just lovely? It even has the old story pages as dividers!

Til today, its pages are still clean and sitting in my cardboard. Hee...
